Glendalough is still a place where prayer, silence and pilgrimage can be a lifesaving moment of respite, says Archbishop Diarmuid Martin.
The 9th century artefact is described as a “square headed bell in iron, consisting of two portions the halves being riveted together; there are also traces of bronze plating”.
Bell is part of the 1,400th anniversary celebrations of St Columbanus as well as the centenary celebrations of the Knights of St Columbanus.
