Experiencing some marital problems a young Christian couple sought out the advice of a Christian marriage counselor. After numerous sessions, he told them
“You have to quit spending money foolishly” he said.
“The next time you feel tempted remember what Jesus told Simon Peter in Matthew 16:23,
“Get behind me Satan! Your thoughts are not my thoughts”
They both agreed to give this a try.
Within a week matters were getting back to normal in their household.
Whenever they got the urge to spend money they would just repeat the words of Jesus in their minds “Get behind me Satan.”
However, by the third week the woman succumbed to her weakness and bought herself an extremely expensive evening gown. Her husband was furious
“Why didn’t you pray, “Get behind me Satan”
“I did” replied his wife, But then I heard a little voice say:
“It looks better from the back than it does from the front!”
Beware: Temptations can be very persuasive
