If we were gardens, this would be a time to fertilize our soil and dig out our weeds.
If we were seeds, this would be a time to germinate and reach for the sun.If we were TV sets, this would be a time to adjust our focus and our fine-tuning.
If we were windows, this would be the time to be cleaned to better allow the sunshine in.
If we were batteries, this would be a time to be recharged.
But No! We are people! People who can easily lose sight of our very purpose on earth.
That’s why we have Holy Week.
The purpose of this week is to re-enact, relive, commemorate and participate in the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today celebrates the most extraordinary events of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem towards the end of Jesus’ public ministry, climaxing with the commemoration of the Mystical Supper, Passion of Jesus that give rise to our own hope of resurrection and new life after death. It is the holiest and busiest liturgical and biblical week of the year in our porishes.
