By Katie Ascough - 29 May, 2020

This weekend, 30 and 31 May, the free online Catholic evangelisation conference Ignite 2020 is taking place live from St Mary’s, Pope’s Quay, Cork.

The aim of the conference is to inspire, educate and motivate all who attend to realise the beauty and depth of the Catholic faith and to create a vision for how Catholics in Ireland can help renew the faith and help the Church through the current crisis.

One keynote speaker is the exceptionally popular and established teacher and author, Dr Scott Hahn. He has delivered numerous talks nationally and internationally on a wide variety of topics related to Scripture and the Catholic faith. His talks have been effective in helping thousands to embrace or re-embrace the Catholic faith. Dr Hahn is also the author of numerous bestselling books.

He currently runs the Newman Centre at the University of Minnesota Duluth and is known to speak annually at FOCUS mega-conferences which take place in the US every January. Some of his videos on YouTube have reached over one-million views, including “Why Be Catholic and Not Just Christian?”and “Can I Get a Tattoo?”.

Other speakers include Ralph Martin, a consultor to the Holy Father’s Pontifical Council for the New Evangelisation; Sr Miriam James Heidland, a former high-level athlete who had a radical conversion and joined the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) in 1998; and Bishop Fintan Gavin, Bishop of Cork and Ross.
