Mahatma Bapu Gandhi, (1869 – 1948AD) was a major political and spiritual leader in India and a star for the Indian Iindependence Movement. He was the pioneer of resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon total non-violence and truth. He led India to independence and inspired many other movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.
Surprisingly, he did not live in a palaces or wear the latest fashions or surround himself with yes men, rather he lived modestly in a self-sufficient residential community, wore the traditional Indian dhoti and shawl, woven with yarn he himself had hand spun on a charkha. He ate simple vegetarian food, and also undertook long fasts as means of both self-purification and social protest.
Once heard to say: Christianity is a great idea, pity it has never really caught on by it’s own followers
If our beliefs, if they are sincere, should effect others. Do yours?
