The people of Ireland have a right to know the truth about abortion and the multi-billion dollar abortion industry – co-directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman.
The movie Unplanned about Abby Johnson’s journey from Planned Parenthood abortion clinic director to one of the world’s most prominent pro-life voices has been launched on a mobile app streaming platform. Making the movie available through an app is a useful tool for sharing Unplanned with those who would not ordinarily go to a church or cinema.
Abby, the protagonist of the true story told in the film Unplanned, was once a Planned Parenthood clinic director until she witnessed the procedure she was selling. After helping facilitate over 22,000 abortions, she joined her former enemies at 40 Days For Life to become one of the most well-known pro-life speakers across the world.
During its US release in March 2019, Unplanned ranked fourth place in the box office opening weekend, alongside films like Dumbo and Captain Marvel. Since then, Unplanned has been released across Canada, Australia, the Philippines, Ireland, and more.
In a previous interview with Catholicireland.net, co-directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman explained why they think this is a movie for everyone: “The beautiful thing about this story is that Abby has lived on both sides of this issue. She’s had two of her own abortions. So it’s not condemning. It’s just one woman’s story of transformation. And in reality, it’s important to be fully informed on any issue you stand behind. So no matter what side of the aisle you’re on, Abby’s story is an important one.”
When asked why they chose to release their film in Ireland, Solomon and Konzelman said: “The people of Ireland asked for Unplanned. We had many, many people reach out to us with urgency for the film to come to cinemas there.
“Due to [the 2018] referendum, abortion is now a reality in the Republic of Ireland. The people of Ireland have a right to know the truth about abortion and the multi-billion dollar abortion industry.”
The Soli Deo Gloria app can be found in the android and iPhone app stores free of charge. Once inside the app, you will find five feature films, one of which is Unplanned. Each film can be streamed for viewing at a cost of $3.99 (€3.53).
Languages available on the app include English, Indian dubs, with Korean subtitles coming soon. More languages will continue to be added in the near future.
