Friday after Ash Wed

19 February, 2021

19/02/09   Friday after Ash Wednesday

Remember...(Mt 9:15).

The Jesus prophesy:
The time will come for the bridegroom to be taken away from them
and then they will fast.

Reflect

On their return from meeting many famous people around the world, Mark Twain’s twenty year old daughter Olivia said to him,Daddy you’ve now met nearly everyone famous except God.’

Meeting God brings us in touch with the deepest ground of who we are, and ensures we live to the full in the present moment. With God we know ourselves truly and deeply.
There is a sense that God is mostly found in solitude which brings us to the still point of peace within us,
the point where we feel a unity with everything and everyone in the world around us.
This takes a willingness to spend time alone with God and his revelation: Jesus

Pray

Good and gracious God,
enlighten the secret places of my mind,
embrace the secret places of my desires,
enlarge the secret places of my love,
so that I walk in your light,
act out of your promptings
and live in your love. Amen

Help me to see others as you do.

Hymn

  1. Holy God, we praise Thy Name;
    Lord of all, we bow before Thee!
    All on earth Thy sceptre claim,
    All in Heaven above adore Thee;
    Infinite Thy vast domain,
    Everlasting is Thy reign.

  2.  Hark! the loud celestial hymn
    Angel choirs above are raising,
    Cherubim and seraphim,
    In unceasing chorus praising;
    Fill the heavens with sweet accord:
    Holy, holy, holy, Lord.
