Famous Bible teacher Jeff Cavins to visit Ireland

Jeff Cavins speakingThe Living Church office in the Diocese of Down and Connor has invited one of the foremost Catholic bible teachers in the world to Belfast for a major workshop later this month.

Jeff Cavins will host the workshop at Belfast’s Waterfont Hall on Saturday 21 November next where he will explore the transformative power of the bible stories.

Ahead of his appearance in Belfast, the National Faith Development Team of the Irish Bishops’ Conference will host the internationally acclaimed author and biblical scholar on Monday 16 November for a day of training in Maynooth.

The theme of the training day is ‘Living Faith: Rooting Ourselves in Sacred Scripture’.

According to the organisers of both conferences, each day will be a day of input, music, prayer and reflection. “It will be a very rich day with prayer, music and good teaching for people who have already made a beginning with Bible study and yet it will a welcoming experience for beginners.”

Jeff Cavins is expected to cover four specific themes during his trip to Belfast including Abraham our Father in Faith, David – Warrior and Worshipper, Jesus the Rabbi who calls us, and the Church: God’s family in the world.

Cavins has created Bible study programmes which are used by more than 5,000 parishes in the United States, Ireland and other countries.

Jeff CavinsHe is the founding host of EWTN’s weekly programme ‘Life on the Rock’ and the author of several books including ‘Walking with God’ which gives an overview of the Bible.

Some 150 people in the Diocese of Down and Connor completed ‘Bible in a Day’ last October and from that event over 1,500 people have completed Mr Cavin’s ‘Quick Journey through the Bible’ course.

Jeff Cavins is recognised both nationally and internationally as one of the most effective and engaging speakers In the Church today.

His conversion story, one of the best known and inspiring stories of its kind, is chronicled in the best-selling book, ‘My Life on the Rock’.

Over the past several decades, he has dedicated his life to developing ‘The Great Adventure: A Journey through the Bible’, a practical, interactive programme that helps people read the “big picture” of God’s plan in Sacred Scripture and understand its meaning for their lives.

‘The Great Adventure’ presents the entire sweep of the Bible in a way that is easy to understand and genuinely fun. Its unique Bible timeline learning system has revolutionised Catholic Bible Study for hundreds of thousands of Catholics since 1995.

Jeff Cavins received his MA in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville. He also been a leading figure in Catholic media for over two decades and has appeared as a guest or host on Catholic radio and television hundreds of times.
