The Diocese of Clogher, through its youth ministry team, Clogher don Óige, is marking the decade of centenaries by taking a reflective look back at the past one hundred years through film, music and dance.
Three performances have or will take place in Easter week: in St Macartan’s Cathedral in Monaghan on Tuesday 29 March and also on Wednesday 30 March, and in St Michael’s Church, Enniskillen on Friday 1 April.
The theme is ‘100 Years Past – 2016 – 100 Years Forward Who Do People Say That We Are?’
The reflections will begin with the events of 1916 – the Easter Rising and the First World War – and move forward, stopping off at significant events that have had a major impact on Irish society in general, and Clogher diocese in particular, along the way.
The Centenary Celebration will use both still and moving images of historic local interest from both Monaghan and Fermanagh, supported by music, lighting and dance from young people across the diocese of Clogher.
The purpose of this centenary celebration is to help people to reflect on the past so as they can learn for the future.
The event is promoted by the Bishop Liam MacDaid of Clogher.
Friday evening’s event begins at 8.00pm. Admission is free, and by ticket. Tickets can be obtained at parish offices in all the towns of the diocese. Opportunities for donations will be available on the night. All are welcome to attend.
