Advent Triduum (5-9 Dec) @ Manresa
Dec 5 @ 8:00 pm – Dec 9 @ 9:00 am
Advent Triduum (5-9 Dec) @ Manresa | Dublin | County Dublin | Ireland

As the frenzy of the Christmas preparations comes to a climax, many people long for a few days’ peace and stillness, away from the mad rush. Our two Tridua here in Manresa offer just such an opportunity. Choose either the second or third week of Advent to spend some time with the seasonal themes. Centered on the themes of Advent and Christmas, and in an atmosphere of silent prayer and reflection, these days provide an opportunity for people to get in touch with the real meaning of the season and the real wonder of what we celebrate.

This year, our first Triduum will begin on the evening of Monday, 5 December, finishing with Mass and breakfast on the morning of Friday, 9 December. The second Triduum will take place a week later: beginning on Monday 12 December and ending on the morning of Friday 16 December.

A reflection will be offered each morning by a Director suggesting how the day’s prayer and silence might lead to a deeper appreciation of the God who comes to us. Afterwards the Triduum Director and members of the Manresa Team will be available for a personal meeting with those who wish. Daily Mass, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available. Early booking is recommended to ensure a place.

What is the truth about Syria and Syrian Christians? @ Buswells Hotel,
Feb 15 @ 7:30 pm

In an age of fake news and widespread media bias, it can sometimes be extremely difficult to work out the truth of a story. One such story is the Syrian conflict. What is really happening there? What happened in Aleppo? Are there ‘good guys’ in this bloody civil war or is it a case of choosing the lesser of many evils?

What is the status of Syrian Christians? Where have they fled to? Why do so few seem to be ending up in the West? Who do they want to win the Syrian civil war?

These questions and more will be dealt with by independent journalist, Vanessa Beeley. She has very wide reporting experience in the Middle East, including Syria. She has reported extensively from Gaza, Syria and Egypt.

She is the Daughter of Sir Harold Beeley K.C.M.G C.B.E. Middle Eastern Advisor to Ernest Bevin and Special Envoy to Cairo during both Suez Crises).
