How soon after birth should my child be baptised?
How soon after birth should my child be baptised?
There is a tradition in the Catholic Church that children should be baptised as soon as convenient after birth. It is best to prepare well for the service and learn what it entails. Usually priests or deacons are only too delighted to help parents understand a little more about both the sacrament of baptism and the Catholic faith generally. Some parishes have a group that helps with the preparation of infant baptism. It is good to enquire at the parish even before the baby arrives so you know what arrangements they make for this.
