I have given you an example, so that you may copy what I have done for you. (Jn 13:15) ....
Prayer for the week Jesus, in death you became like us to the end, and in resurrection you point the way to what we will be. In bad times give us confidence and faith, in good times give us hope and joy, and in all times give us love, for you are love and hope from God. Amen.
Reflection for the day There are many reasons for doing good. You may have convictions about justice, peace, equality, and a reasonable life for everyone. You may try to ensure that others have as good a life as you have yourself. You may want to give back to life what life has given you. All these motives were shared by Jesus. But there can be more to doing good. For example, the way a person wants to give themselves for other people – not just give what they do, but give who they are. The identity of Jesus was in giving himself to others and for others. And that’s what he asks of us. This is the Christian motivation: to do as Jesus did. As he poured the water over his disciples’ feet, he was pouring out life and love for them. We are to do the same.
Action for the week Fast from some food or drink you like this week.
