I tell you most solemnly, one of you will betray me. (Jn 13:21)
Prayer for the week Jesus, in death you became like us to the end, and in resurrection you point the way to what we will be. In bad times give us confidence and faith, in good times give us hope and joy, and in all times give us love, for you are love and hope from God. Amen.
Reflection for the day We say about the passion of Jesus that all human suffering is there. It is a sort of summary of the sufferings people can have. One of the worst is betrayal. There is a deep sense of loss, disappointment, nothingness in betrayal by a friend or by anyone trusted. Betrayal in big or little things is an abuse of our trust, and our trust is one of the biggest gifts we can give to anyone. Jesus had trusted Judas, who used that trust to betray him to death. Worse than denial or rejection by the others. In that experience Jesus shares one of life’s most bitter experiences.
Action for the week Fast from some food or drink you like this week.
