Passion Sunday
But Jesus, again crying out in a loud voice, yielded up his spirit. (Mt 27:50)

Prayer for the week
Jesus, in death you became like us to the end,
and in resurrection you point the way to what we will be.
In bad times give us confidence and faith,
in good times give us hope and joy,
and in all times give us love,
for you are love and hope from God. Amen.

Reflection for the day
In the floor of the holy sepulchre in Jerusalem, you can put your hand through a hole and you can touch the rock of Calvary. The place of the crucifixion is as near as a touch of the hand. Crucifixion is near for us all the time – our worries, problems, suffering. People of all ages experience some pain and suffering. But there’s another side to it – all through this story Easter is near. We celebrate from this side of Easter. We can always find hope. We can face the worst because Jesus has known the best – new life, new hope, never a final end. There’s a rock of resurrection we can touch, in faith. A time in prayer when all is quiet and still, help from family or friends, from a doctor, maybe, or from a nurse, from any of the many people who help us on our way – that’s how we touch the rock of resurrection. That’s what we remember this week.

Action for the week
Fast from some food or drink you like this week.
